Why your future osteopath needs your support right now

Why your future osteopath needs your support right now

February 10, 2026

We think that osteopathy uni students deserve to be paid for their clinical placements, that’s way Osteopathy Australia is proud to support Allied Health Professions Australia’s petition calling on the Australian Government to expand the Commonwealth Prac Payment program (CPP) to all allied health students.

The CPP program currently offers $338.60 per week (as of 2026, benchmarked to the single Austudy rate on 1 January each year) to eligible students while they undertake a mandatory placement in teaching, nursing, midwifery, or social work degrees.

However, there are many students – including osteopathy students – who are required to complete extensive unpaid placements that make it difficult, and sometimes impossible, to balance study, work and living costs. With workforce shortages growing across allied health, supporting students through their studies is essential.

Supporting students strengthens the entire health system – every signature strengthens the message: students deserve fair support while completing compulsory placements.

Help us fix this – please add your name and share the petition with your networks here.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting the next generation of the osteopathic health workforce.
